Applications for Firearms Permits for residents of the Township of River Vale are handled through the police department. In order to obtain a firearm, you must meet the eligibility requirements and comply with the statutes which govern firearms purchases in the State of New Jersey.

Application Process:

Applications are to be made through the Firearms Application & Registration System (FARS). To access the system, please click on the link above. You will need the River Vale Police Department ORI NJ0025300 to initiate the application.

• All fees paid on the website for criminal record checks are not refundable – please be sure you chose the correct application.

• Initial Applicants (New Applicants) – please print the Indentogo Fingerprint Form prior to submitting the application. You will need to bring it with you to your fingerprint appointment.

• Administrative Fees ($50 Firearms ID Card, $25 per Pistol Permit) will be collected at pickup.
