This Sunday, February 23, all are welcome to join in the Township of River Vale's 3rd Annual Ramadan Crescent Lighting from 4:30 - 6:00pm at the River Vale Community Center, 628 Rivervale Road! We look forward to welcoming this month-long observance by our Muslim neighbors with festivities planned to learn about and celebrate the customs of Ramadan. We’ll have a formal program beginning at 4:30pm with speakers and music followed by the crescent lighting, crafts, henna, a children’s author reading, a photo booth and refreshments – all inside the Community Center this year. We hope you’ll put this in your calendar and join us. All are welcome to attend! Interested in volunteering? We are looking for help with refreshments, henna, and our craft tables. Here are some basics: • You must be at least 16 years of age (ages 16 & 17 require a parental consent form) • You must be in good health and feel well • You must weigh at least 110 pounds • You can donate every 56 days You can visit www.vitalant.com for more specific eligibility information. In addition, if you are looking for other ways to make an impact, there are a few openings for donors to give “Power Red” which is donating a double supply of Red Blood Cells while hooked up to a machine that returns your plasma and platelets back to you. You can find out more about that on the Vitalant website, too. On Thursday 1/30, there will be utility work at the intersection of Rivervale Road and Prospect Avenue. Rivervale Road will be closed from Lamanna Drive to Kennedy Court. Prospect Avenue will be closed at the intersection. Police Officers will be present to conduct traffic control and assist residents who reside in the affected area in accessing their homes/businesses. Please follow the posted detours.
