First quarter 2024 property taxes now due. The last day to pay without penalty is Monday, February 12, 2024.
It is recommended that you utilize the following methods to make your payment:
1. Drop Off / Mail in Checks:
You can mail in or drop off your check using the drop box mailbox at the front door of Town Hall, which is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please include your tax stub with your check in a sealed envelope.
Checks should be payable to the “Township of River Vale”. Please DO NOT leave any cash in the tax payment drop box. If mailing your payment and you would like a receipt, please include your entire tax bill with a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
Post-Dated Checks: By statute, our office is required to deposit payments as soon as they are received and we cannot accept “post-dated” checks, therefore, please date your check the day you write it out, just as you would if you were paying in person.
2. Online Bill Pay from your bank:
Please be aware payments that you initiate with your own bank through online bill pay should be scheduled in advance of any due date to allow a sufficient number of mailing days for the Township to receive, process and apply the payment to your account. Bank payments made from online bill pay are sent through the mail. The Township is not responsible for late payments due to delays in mail service or bank processing. Please include your Block and Lot, Last name and/or property address in order for us to apply the payment to the correct account.
3. Electronic Check or Credit Card:

Fees are as follows:
ACH or e-check: $1.50 per transaction
Debit or Credit cards: 2.65% of the payment
4. Direct Debit - ACH/Direct Withdrawal
The Tax Collector’s Office now offers an Automated Clearing House (ACH) bank draft program (direct withdrawal) to our taxpayers. This service assures your payment will be received in a timely manner as well as providing a safe and secure way to pay your taxes without the worry of mail delivery or coming to pay in person. Come to River Vale Town Hall's Council Chambers on Monday, February 5 from 10am to 12pm for a Free Wellness Screening (blood pressure) from Hackensack Meridian / Pascack Valley Medical Center!
PSEG Gas / Waters and Bugsbee will be continuing to work on Cedar Lane and will be working in the Cedar Lane / Cleveland Avenue intersection this week. This will cause a closure at Demarest Avenue / Cedar Lane and Cleveland Avenue / Cedar Lane. River Vale Police Officers will be present to conduct traffic control and assist residents who reside in the affected area in accessing their homes and businesses. Please follow the posted detours. We appreciate your anticipated cooperation.
